"Rooted": Immigration, Migration and Greenspaces" was Part 1 of the Witness Series 2024 held at Journey HTX. An artists panel about identity, place-making and belonging took. This rich dialogue provided the space to imagine different possible futures, highlighted how art allows us to see the world in new ways, and encouraged us all to come together to create climate solutions. Following the panel, attendees were invited to take part in a Community "Counter-Cartography" Generative Poetry Workshop by Spoken Word Artist-Activist & Owner of Lualo Studio LLC, Jenah Maravilla. Attendees experienced a guided meditation, created body maps and accompanied their prose to illustrate the community's relationship between self and "home".
